LANGUAGE COURSE INFO (COURSE LEVELS)
Upon registering a consultation and assessment is provided to gauge a student’s correct level. There are six general levels in addition to the International English Language Testing System (I.E.L.T.S).
Level One (Elementary/Beginner)
For the beginner, This level provides a foundation and structure of English enabling one to build confidence and speak freely. Priority is given to elementary vocabulary and communication along with listening and repetition skills. Reading simple texts is also part of this course.
Level Two (Intermediate)
Ideal for those with elementary language skills, but who still feel restricted in their overall use of English. All four learning skills are developed with emphasis on speaking and producing fluent language in a variety of settings. Dictionary use and pronunciation are stressed with added attention to grammar and more complex sentence structure. At this level writing is introduced, featuring formal and informal letters, paragraph formatting, email writing and punctuation.
Level Three (Advanced)
Particularly for those with a good grasp of English, but who still make routine errors. Thorough coverage is given to accuracy and advanced grammar, including conditionals, idioms, colloquial and euphemistic expressions. Writing exercises at this level will help develop greater coherency and cohesiveness. Newspapers, business and magazine articles provide the basis for group discussion, argumentation and presentations, boosting vocabulary and confidence.
International English Language Testing System (I.E.L.T.S)
The IELTS course is a requirement for most non-UK residents who wish to enter universities in the UK and other commonwealth countries. It is also essential for immigration procedures if one is to study abroad. The IELTS course is a challenging one which once passed offers an internationally recognized certification. British Communications IELTS course thoroughly prepares students to pass this exam with the highest grading, allowing for entry to the best available commonwealth university.
Please note: The Elementary course comes with two possible levels; Beginner and Advanced Beginner. The Intermediate has three possible options from Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced Intermediate. Including the Advanced course six possible options are available. IELTS is only offered once an assessment is provided to discern if language ability is sufficient to undertake and pass this course.
